The "Old Brewery" on Meadow Lane has been recorded as early as 1756, and has also been known as "Jaques & Co." The exact location of his house is not known; it was variously been located as "across from" or "next to" the brewery which he visited for study of the fermentation process. Hunslet Lane, running north-south and to the right (east) of Meadow Lane, will later become important as a major location for the expanding brewery business (e.g., Tetley's Brewery, today prosperous and well-known). The famous Leeds Pottery Works is south, off the map. One should not confuse Hunslet Lane with Hunslet Road (on modern maps), which will be built later, extending to the southeast, a mirror-image of Meadow Lane (see Garmin map).
